Practical Small Projects facilitates the implementation of practical projects that require minimal financial and environmental resources, but have maximum impact and results in the developing world.
To do this, we design self-sustaining projects that continue to produce results long after our involvement. We use methods that have proven successful in other parts of the world, and bring together the people who can make it happen. Maximum impact is ensured by concentrating on areas that have the most need, as well as a policy environment conducive to success.
We are small, but effect big change. Results-oriented, we take on projects where tangible results will be visible within three months. We believe that skill transfer, local business and small financial commitments can produce significant results in an impoverished Africa.

Mary Graham founded Practical Small Projects in hopes of facilitating micro-enterprise/finance projects that motivate locals to view themselves as capable entrepreneurs who can develop their own countries. After attending a solar energy workshop in Mexico, and seeing the ability of Nicaraguans to generate income by setting up micro-enterprises using solar energy, she was inspired to introduce this work in Mali, Africa.
Mary is a Fulbright Fellow and holds an MA in International Policy Studies from The Monterey Institute of International Studies.
At MIIS, Mary specialized in international negotiation and analyzed governmental and international organizations’ programs focusing on micro-enterprise development and solar energy in China, India and West Africa. She was motivated by the belief that people living in remote villages are capable of developing their own businesses and becoming self-sufficient in the process of doing so.
She has lived and worked in seven countries, and speaks English, Spanish, and French. She has an exceptional capability for understanding and relating effectively both to English-speaking people as well as people of other cultures and languages.
